Fairy-tale wedding at Castello di Meleto

A fairytale castle wedding in the Chianti hills
When picturing their special day the bride had no doubt that she wanted it to be in a castle, to have that fairytale princess mood she was longing for. We visited with them many castles in the Chianti area, but Meleto was the one to steal their hearts at first sight. With Meleto’s historical feeling they immediately felt that it was the place and so wedding at Castello di Meleto it was. There was enough accommodation for their families to stay for a few days together and enjoy hanging around Tuscany. Castello di Meleto is also a wine producing estate, so the celebrations started with an informal tour of the castle followed by a wine tasting and a pizza party.
The atmosphere was intimate and relaxed, and it set the mood for the next day. The day of the wedding at Castello di Meleto all the vendors arrived early to set up and help the ladies get ready. The bride got ready with her bridal party in the bridal suite, with background music. All the bridesmaids wore lilac gowns, that matched the lavender flowers that the bride is so in love with. Since the first moments, when trying to figure out the design of the stationery and of the whole set up, she was set on lavender. Flowers Living managed to make classic and rustic but still classy floral decorations, matching white and lilac with the perfect shade of pale green.
The religious ceremony of this wedding at Castello di Meleto took place in a church close by, so all the guests were moved by shuttle bus. The last one to reach the church was of course the bride, who wore a stunning princess crisp white gown, with a long veil. She arrived in a white vintage convertible Volkswagen Beetle, together with her father and mother. She expressly wanted them both to walk her down the aisle. It was very emotional to see her walk holding her mother’s hand tight on one side, and her father’s arm on the other. The groom was waiting for her at the altar and we bet it was hard to hold back the tears. The church was crowded and the decorations were perfectly enhancing the beauty of the building, and wooden fans were placed on the seats to help guests deal with the summer heat. The music was another Brazilian touch to this wedding at Castello di Meleto, as the trio in charge is a Brazilian style band, that made the ceremony even more unique.
After the ceremony all the guests gathered outside to welcome the newlyweds and have a group photo session before heading back to the castle. At the castle an Italian style aperitif was waiting in the gardens. There everyone could enjoy the Italian food and the view of sunset over the Chianti rolling hills.
The dinner was held in the former stables, with the weather being uncertain. One of the many good aspects of a wedding at Castello di Meleto is that it offers a good plan B option, so it was not a big deal, and the set up worked perfectly fine also indoors. The seating chart was written on a huge wooden mirror, that stood right outside the stables entrance door. A branch of lavender was decorating the menu on the napkin, at each seat.
The dinner was enlivened with speeches and early dancing. Something we had expected given the high number of Brazilian guests, but Italian guests were not standing still either. After dinner the wedding cake was made by a pastry chef and cut by the newlyweds, in the garden right in front of the castle side tower. It was a sweet and romantic moment, in tune with this lovely couple that radiated so much love.
Indoors the guests of this wedding at Castello di Meleto could party wild all night long, delighted by desserts and drinks.
