Unforgettable Wedding at Villa Cimbrone
Wedding at Villa Cimbrone
If you’re looking for a wedding venue to get married in Italy, we’re pretty sure you came across this one at some point. The stunning Villa Cimbrone, dating at least 11th Century, is definitely one of the most well known and photographed luxury wedding venue in Italy.
It sits on top of Ravello cliffs and it is famous for its scenic Belvedere Terrace, called Terrazza dell’Infinito, that allows a breathtaking view on the Amalfi Coast sea.
Villa Cimbrone can be reached only by foot, following a 10 minutes walk from Ravello city center. Hidden by big ancient walls and a big wooden door, the Villa and its gardens are one of the jewels of the Amalfi Coast and surely one of the most esclusive wedding venue in Italy.
D & D, an amazingly special and funny couple from California, fell in love with this venue at first sight and decided to confirm it in a record time. When the bride asked if it was possible to find a Castle with a view on water, the thought went to this Villa, with its magical gothic style, and a open air Crypt that has a Castle like atmosphere. Just a few hours after our video call she wrote a message to tell that they already decided to host their wedding at Villa Cimbrone. So first step was sorted quickly.
They also decided not to come over to visit the venue before the wedding week end, because they wanted to keep the surprise factor for them as well. Needless to say they were amazed by it!
They arrived the day before the wedding, together with all their guests, at the meeting point in Ravello where we went to welcome them and their guests! After few minutes of presentations and luggage handing to Villa Cimbrone porters, we walked together under a nice sun ,through the gorgeous streets of Ravello to reach the Villa.
The wedding couple and the guests were amazed by the walk we had together, as the town of Ravello is extremely peculiar.
When we arrived at the Villa the guests were welcomed by a glass of Champagne, as requested by the couple, and a few hours later Villa Cimbrone restaurant prepared for all the guests an informal Welcome Dinner under the Pergola. The buffet included all the typical dishes of Campania region that delighted all the guests tastebuds. It was a great start for this 2 days wedding at Villa Cimbrone.
Early in the morning the Greta Garbo suite, the bridal suite, was invaded by the wedding team, Silvia and I, the two photographers Andrea Corsi and Angelica Braccini, the videographer Brian Andrew Wilmott, and the make up artist Samantha Pretto, with her team, and the whole bridal party, all ready to help the bride get ready before the big event.
The ceremony took place in the romantic outdoor Tea Room, Jo Bertolino from Tuscan Pledges celebrated a romantic rite accompanied by the music of the string quartet of Il Marco di OZ.
The ceremony was ended with the exclamation “DAMMI UN BACINO” pronounced by the Bride to the Groom, that surprised us all. Quick fact: the father of the Bride was born in Italy and when she was a child he was used to tell her in Italian: Dammi un Bacino (Give me a small kiss), so on the wedding day she decided to add this personal sweet touch at the end of the Ceremony.
After the ceremony the guests walked to the Infinity terrace, where they could enjoy the breathtaking view at the sunset time, while sipping the aperitivo organized by the Villa.
After sunset all the guests moved to the Crypt, that was decorated by the majestic hands of Flowers Living. The seated dinner was also accompanied by a performance of US painter Sergio Gutierrez, who painted a portrait of the wedding couple in front of all the guests.
All the dishes were delicious and they were expertly cooked by Villa Cimbrone chef, who last year gained a Michelin star. All courses were accompanied by Campania wines and French champagne.
At the end of the dinner the couple cut their black wedding cake, after which they started a big wild dance off wedding party.
It was a very personal, fun and memorable wedding at Villa Cimbrone, thanks to the guests and the wedding team but most of all to this unique couple we will never forget.
