The new guidelines for weddings in Italy after Covid-19

From November 2020 weddings in Italy were stopped — not too bad for destination wedding workers, who normally have more weddings during the summer. The 2020 summer permitted just a few events, as couples with no certainty over lockdown measures decided to cancel or postpone their wedding in Italy to 2021.

The new decree about Post Covid Weddings in Italy in 2021 states the following requirements:

  • Private events are only possible if the Region where the wedding takes place is in Yellow or White Zone.
  • Bride & Groom and all wedding guests need a Green Pass:
    1. All guests must provide a Green Pass certificate showing vaccination with 2 doses of Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca or Johnson & Johnson (other vaccines are not accepted).
    2. Or they must show a negative test result within 48 hours before the event.
    3. Or, if they had Covid-19, they must provide a certificate issued by the health authority.
  • Provide clear and frequent information and guidelines on the rules to be respected against Covid-19 during the event.
  • Body temperature may be checked at the entrance; access will be forbidden in case of temperature above 37.5°C.
  • Hand sanitizing products must be available for guests and staff throughout the event, especially at toilet entrances, which must be cleaned and sanitized multiple times during the day.
  • Keep the guest list available for 14 days after the event.
  • Adopt measures to avoid gatherings outside the premises.
  • Arrange tables to ensure at least 1 meter of separation between guests from different tables indoors (extendable to 2 meters based on epidemiological risk), and at least 1 meter outdoors.
  • Guests must wear masks in indoor areas (when not seated at the table) and in outdoor areas. Service staff must wear masks throughout the entire event and sanitize hands frequently.
  • Reorganize all spaces to guarantee access in fixed numbers, avoiding gatherings and guaranteeing social distancing of at least 1 meter between each guest.
  • Where practicable, give priority to outdoor spaces, always respecting at least 1 meter of distancing.
  • Buffet-style meals are possible only if waiters serve the food; guests cannot serve themselves. Self-service buffet is only possible using pre-packaged single-dose products.
  • Encourage air exchange in indoor areas and check air flow systems regularly. All filters must be at the highest filtering range possible and regularly sanitized or changed.
  • Guarantee cleaning and disinfection of indoor areas and equipment before each use.
  • In wardrobes, clothing and personal items must be placed in special garment bags.
  • Live music is allowed only if 1 meter of social distancing can be maintained between audience members, and 2 meters between musicians and guests.
